After the General Election of 2008 I made a conscious effort to give President Obama a chance. I wanted to give him an opportunity to be true to his word; to prove that he was committed to governing from the center. I also wanted to demonstrate that I was not of the same ilk as the Bush-hating, “he stole the election,” fact-ignoring Progressive malcontents that served to divide the country over the eight years of the Bush Administration. But now, a year after the election, and as we approach a full year of the Obama Administration, it has become abundantly clear that Mr. Obama has abandoned almost all of his campaign promises (but for his commitments to the SEIU) and is governing from the far Left. He has instituted a campaign of social engineering that can only be described as a direct threat to liberty.

On Oct. 25, 2009, Barack Obama presided over the beginning of operation of the largest solar-energy facility yet built in the United States. “Largest Solar-Panel Plant in U.S. Rises in Florida” by Christine Armario, Associated Press, Oct. 23, 2009, brings word that this plant cost $150 million to build and is sited on 180 acres of Florida land. It is touted as a “25-megawatt” facility.

Obama invites a nightmare
The storyline is hauntingly familiar: terrorist detainees were moved to a major city to await trial. While there, fellow Islamic terrorists decided to make a daring and dastardly attempt to gain their release, not by attacking the well-protected courtroom or the heavily guarded detention facility (they are bloodthirsty but they are not stupid), but by going for a more tantalizing target.

In a victory for free labor, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has cancelled its solicitation for bids(1) to build a new Jobs Corps Center in the state of New Hampshire. Why is it a victory? Because initial plans to receive bids would have discriminated against non-union construction companies per President Obama’s orders. Over 80% of all construction companies are non-union.
