Another Entitlement That’s Unsustainable
Big Brother piece by OffSite (1/5/10)
Inside the House and Senate health care bills lurks a ticking time bomb—a new federal entitlement, under the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act, which would allow Americans to buy into a voluntary federal long-term care insurance program.

Obama’s Make-Believe Life
ObamaNation piece by Alan Caruba (1/2/10)
I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he’s led a kind of make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened because at some point early on somebody or some group took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white, half-black, young man with an exotic African/Muslim name and concluded he could be guided toward a life in politics where his facile speaking skills could even put him in the White House.

The night the United States died
ObamaNation piece by OffSite (1/1/10)
It’s Jan. 20, 2017, and we are gathered together in a small house on the edge of a lake in Eastern Texas. We comprise multiple families and by occupation include former college professors, lawyers and physicians. All of us are conservative, forced to withdraw from our professions and seek refuge in an out-of-the-way place in a red state. Three months ago, we refused to sign the required pledge to abide by the “Freedom of Choice” law, which mandates the promotion of abortion, homosexuality and other anti-Judeo-Christian acts.

Candidates for certification to teach in public schools in Texas are being told that they will be held accountable for any “heterosexist” leanings and must become agents working to change society, according to one candidate who was alarmed by the demands.

No greater evil
ObamaNation piece by Erik Rush (12/31/09)
I apologize ahead of time to those who are attentive to this space on a weekly basis; the process of addressing key topics I hold as vitally important in the coming months - but of which those coming across my columns for the first time may not be yet apprised - may convey the appearance of redundancy.
Teddy’s Dream Is America’s Nightmare
Progressivism piece by OffSite (12/31/09)
Invoking the memory of the “liberal lion” on health care reform reminds us of the massive government spending supported by the late senator - Following the Christmas Eve passage of the Senate Democrats’ health care reform bill, Harry Reid said, “This vote brings us one step closer to making Ted Kennedy’s dream a reality.” Many Americans would contrastingly characterize the potential passage and implementation of this legislation as more of a nightmare. But one thing on which both critics and supporters of ObamaCare may be able to agree is that invoking the name of the late senator from Massachusetts in connection with the passage of a piece of legislation as incompatible with free-market principles and notions of individual liberty as ObamaCare is altogether fitting and proper.

The ObamaNation Elitist Abomination Is Spiraling Out Of Control
ObamaNation piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (12/29/09)
Unfortunately The Republic may well suffer the same fate.
Obama gives foreign cops new police powers in U.S.
ObamaNation piece by OffSite (12/29/09)
Sovereignty apparently set aside as agency exempted from law - A little-discussed executive order from President Obama giving foreign cops new police powers in the United States by exempting them from such drudgery as compliance with the Freedom of Information Act is raising alarm among commentators who say INTERPOL already had most of the same privileges as diplomats.

What to Do Now That its Been Done
The Republic piece by Robert R. Owens (12/28/09)
You can’t beat good political drama. The Nuremberg rallies with all those glistening uniforms and snappy torch light marches. The May Day Parades with the Soviet gerontocracy standing on Lenin’s tomb smiling at the grandchildren of the people they tortured riding on their shiny tanks and missile launchers. Even little North Korea stages some pretty impressive mass birthday parties for the Glorious Midget. We may disagree with everything these totalitarian nightmare regimes stand for. We may abhor their gangster tactics and hellish fantasies about conquering the world but you have to give them credit for knowing how to wow the crowd. They know how to stage a scene and then walk on as the Luke Skywalker of megalomania, wave to the great unwashed return to their castle of doom and continue living life large like Dr. No or in Kim Jong-II’ s case Mini-Me.

The First 12 Months of Obama Captivity: Preparing for Eradication
ObamaNation piece by Sher Zieve (12/27/09)
Now beginning the Era of Captivity, the American people have entered a new stage in their once extremely productive lives. This new phase has been purposefully designed to be unproductive and will be called ‘existence’. Existence, however, will soon degrade and devolve--with no one stopping the perpetrators of this abhorrence--into subsistence. After that chapter has been written and read, life will have become so essentially bitter and untenable that additional deteriorations in life-conditions will carry no significant meaning--other than base survival.

The waging battle between truth and lies
Big Brother piece by OffSite (12/26/09)
There is only one way out of the mess we are in: to face the truth of how we got into it and apply the proper medicine. How did the United States, the leader of the free world, get on to the road to a totalitarian system financed by American taxpayers?
President Obama’s Marxist majority
ObamaNation piece by OffSite (12/26/09)
A reporter asked Majority Leader Harry Reid how he could justify exempting Nebraska from Medicaid payments forever, in exchange for Sen. Ben Nelson’s vote. His reply: There’s a hundred senators here. And I don’t know if there’s a senator that doesn’t have something in this bill that was important to them. And if they don’t have something in it important to them, then it doesn’t speak well of them. That’s what this legislation is all about. (Harry Reid, Dec. 21, 2009, Democratic press conference after cloture vote on health-care bill)

The Audacity of Washington
Elitists piece by OffSite (12/25/09)
Audacity and transparency are running rampant in Washington. Elected officials are transparent about their audacity.
The bad lady flies a Boeing 757
Progressivism piece by OffSite (12/25/09)
I am always amazed by the absolute trust accorded elected officials by liberals. As long as the elected officials espouse a liberal ideology, it seems hardwired in the liberal’s mind to believe that politicians are benevolent caretakers. This seems to be the case no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. If a politician is liberal, fellow liberals will overlook any character flaw and any reprehensible action and will consider that politician a pillar of society and the protector of the poor.
‘Can America be saved?’
Socialism piece by OffSite (12/25/09)
In a 2008 radio interview, Barack Obama said: “ ... the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties.”

How to Accept a Poorly Wrapped Present
ObamaNation piece by Paul A. Ibbetson (12/23/09)
If it has been a while since you were a child waiting for Christmas morning, or whatever time of day the parental green light was given for the opening of presents, you may be a little out of touch with the true magnitude of this event. For most kids, Christmas is a magical time of both gift giving and gift receiving. This holiday event has its own magic that supersedes every other day of the year. While children perceive much more than they are given credit for, they have the tendency to have a somewhat flawed reality of their parents’ economic “Santa” capabilities. That is, despite what “wish list” limitations are handed down from the parent(s), when it comes to a perusal of the gifts in view, children have a way of accessing through “blurry early morning eyes” that maybe, just maybe, every one of their special requests reside beneath the colorful wrappings of the items under the tree. Adult concerns like poorly wrapped presents don’t even register on the kid scale of importance as the wrapping paper quickly turns to confetti in the child’s rush to unearth the next gift. Ah, to be young at Christmas time.

Taliban fight rules ‘tying American soldiers’ hands’
Political Correctness piece by OffSite (12/22/09)
The president of the Center for Military Readiness today warned that apparent military rules of engagement for U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan are like tying one hand behind their backs before sending them into combat.

History of climate gets ‘erased’ online
ClimateGate piece by OffSite (12/22/09)
A new report reveals a British scientist and Wikipedia administrator rewrote climate history, editing more than 5,000 unique articles in the online encyclopedia to cover traces of a medieval warming period - something Climategate scientists saw as a major roadblock in the effort to spread the global warming message.
Obama sued for secret abortion meetings
ObamaNation piece by OffSite (12/22/09)
A legal firebrand whose work fighting corruption left both Bill Clinton and Dick Cheney on the defensive today took on Barack Obama, suing the president for secret meetings with Planned Parenthood and other lobbyists on his plans to nationalize health care.
Will Federal Elections Happen In November 2010? (Updated)
Elections piece by Malcolm T. Hedges (12/22/09)
Another question: “If allowed will those elections be honest?”
Americans Are Mad As Hell!
The Republic piece by J. D. Longstreet (12/22/09)
The Last time Americans were this mad, they were colonists and the government, to which they were tethered, was across the Atlantic, in England, and paid no mind to the “bitching” Americans. Today the government is in Washington, DC. Little else has changed!

Kwanzaa: It’s Time for the Annual Con Job!
Culture Wars piece by Don Boys (12/21/09)
Kwanzaa is a massive con job aimed at gullible Blacks, especially those who want to “seek their African roots.” It seems too many Blacks have been very careless in buying into anything that seems to support their “cause.”

Copenhagen - Enviro-Left Drives Another Nail In Humanity’s Coffin
GreeenIsm piece by OffSite (12/20/09)
And lo, the cry went up from the mainstream media: When, O when, will the Copenhagen climate summit, which concluded on Friday, discuss the real solution to global warming - fewer people? When will Jesse Jackson get around to talking about race?
Science, Smoking, Healthcare, All Prove Gov’t Can’t be Trusted
Government piece by Warner Todd Huston (12/20/09)
Just sit back and let big daddy government show you the way. The Democrat Party is assuring us that they know better because they have science, educated people, doctors, all that “expertise” in their control and further more they “care” about us all and they want us to know that they’d never do anything to lead us astray.
Demography Decides Everything
Society piece by Alan Caruba (12/20/09)
When I listen to politicians arguing the merits of some piece of legislation, I am usually 99% sure they have no idea how demography - population - will effect the outcome of their grand schemes.

Bogus Asylum Seekers To Take America By Storm
National Security piece by Ann "Babe" Huggett (12/17/09)
Obama Administration Sets The Stage For Bogus Asylum Seekers To Take America By Storm - It’s such a little AP notice; hardly more than a blip on the news ticker but, as of January 4, 2010, Immigration and Customs Enforcement will no longer detain asylum seekers to the US if they can prove a credible fear of persecution in their home countries. ICE Director, John Morton, under the orders of the Obama Administration, said that if asylum seekers can meet certain conditions then they can temporarily enter the US.
Democrats Put Party, Vanity Above Country
Demercrats piece by OffSite (12/17/09)
Like a desperate last-minute Christmas shopper who will grab any gift at any price, Congress may rush through a hasty and ill-conceived rewrite of healthcare legislation.

Global Warming piece by OffSite (12/17/09)
Al Gore and his “warmist” allies are dead wrong in blaming humans for climate change. Mankind, in fact, is not guilty of causing any climate change and the European Foundation has 100 reasons why humans are free of any blame for alleged global warming.
