America’s Bakers March on Washington
Congress piece by Alan Caruba (3/12/08)
On March 12, the American Baking Association, representing 85% of the total baking industry, will lead a “Band of Bakers March on Washington.” Representatives from more than 50% of the nation’s largest baking companies will call on Congress to correct the policies it has created over the years that have led to soaring food and oil prices.
The History of U.S. Taxation
Big Brother piece by JB Williams (3/12/08)
Few Americans understand how America is being taxed and spent into bankruptcy in the name of a “greater common good.” They kind of sense that we are, but have never studied how, why or how long it has been going on, much less what to do about it. Below I have included the official FACT history of American taxation as posted by the U.S. Treasury Department on their education web site.

Sinisterism and Radical Islam
Terrorism piece by Bruce Walker (3/11/08)
What, historically, do Nazis, Stalinists, Maoists and Fascists have in common? Evil, of course, is one answer. But there is more to it than that. These evil systems have common elements: (1) rejection of the ethical monotheism of Jews and Christians; (2) embrace of brutal totalitarianism; (3) the sort of cannibalism that was the show trials of Stalin or Hitler’s Night of the Long Knives; (4) dishonesty celebrated as virtue; (5) profession of some variation of socialism.
THERE’S NOTHING ‘EASY’ ABOUT ‘E-ZPass’ TOLLS!
General piece by Gordon Bishop (3/11/08)
For some unexplainable reason I do not get along with today’s electronic technology.
Facts We Are Supposed To Ignore About Barack Obama
Elections piece by Dave Gibson (3/11/08)
Obama’s fan club in the mainstream news media has abandoned all basic tenets of journalism, in favor of protecting a candidate whose own supporters cannot name any of his accomplishments. Despite his lack of experience and many troubling issues surrounding Obama, our liberal press has joined his campaign and now hope that we will be so taken with his rock star status that we too will ignore the facts.
Further Proof NPR Caters to Extreme Left
Progressivism piece by Warner Todd Huston (3/11/08)
Jennifer Harper, Washington Times reporter, gives us a revealing look(1) at how far left our taxpayer funded National Public Radio network has gotten itself these days. Even when they try to go a little toward the conservative side of the debate, they get lambasted by their audience, angered that they had the temerity to air conservative views. Of course, the only reason they would get such a rude reception from their own audience is because they have garnered only a far left listenership as a result of their far left programming. After all, if they had a balanced listenership they wouldn’t get deluged by angry emails when they aired conservative content.
Obamelot? Not!
Elections piece by Doug Edelman (3/11/08)
In all the ecstatic love-fest frenzy the left is having with Barak Obama, they have recently been invoking the mystique of “Camelot” - that storied infatuation with JFK and Jackie - and drawing a parallel.
Age and the Presidency - Perspectives, Older, Younger
Elections piece by Marion Edwyn Harrison (3/11/08)
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL two weeks ago, in the context of discussing the age of Senator John Sidney McCain, III, who will turn 72 in August, noted the ages of highly significant - and generally acclaimed as truly great - leaders beginning with World War II. WALL STREET JOURNAL columnist Bryan Cole or an editor cleverly characterizes the McCain age as “By historical standards [that of] a mere broth of a lad.”
Blood, Guts and Al Gore
GreeenIsm piece by Doug Patton (3/11/08)
As Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue to strut their stuff on the campaign trail, memories of 1968 Chicago are creeping into the nightmares of Democrats everywhere.
Being ‘Poor’ A New Qualification for Denver’s ‘Gifted’ School Programs
Edukshun piece by Warner Todd Huston (3/11/08)
The Denver Post(1) gave us a fine example—not that they meant to—of why every year our schools are turning out more semi-literate kids with over inflated egos. To the Post, of course, it’s all good news that being poor in the Denver School Districts now qualifies a kid to be placed in the “gifted students” programs. To the Post this new classification “makes things more equitable” in those gifted programs. Why, it’s giving minorities a “lift,” you see? Of course, there isn’t a word out of anyone in Denver if whether or not any of these kids suddenly classified as “gifted” students actually have any gifts that might prove them worthy of their politically motivated status.
No Room for Christianity in the Religion of the Left
Progressivism piece by Dennis Campbell (3/11/08)
Is the American Left religious? That depends on your definition of “religion,” and finding one that is universally agreed-upon is impossible.
Parenting with heart in the heartland
Edukshun piece by Ari Kaufman (3/11/08)
Families and teachers make sure the kids behave - Growing up in a coastal “liberal” family, most of my friends shared similar, ignorant views on what those strict parents in the so-called “heartland” were all about. After my brief teaching career in Los Angeles, I moved to that heartland, where I now work as a freelance writer and full-time researcher for Indiana’s War Memorials. I am the only Jewish employee in my office and the only transplant from either coast.
